I love this mod. I did full time DRL's too. I did mine under the hood though.

I think you can only run it with 2 diodes I could be wrong, but if you use to many diodes, they kinda cancel each other out. So that would leave you kinda limited on the options.

Re: 4-HI Headlight mod 03+

I tried to do mine with 3 and like Kenny says...the diodes cancelled each other out.
I wired mine 4hi w/o fogs, and DRL with fogs. I did mine this way because I drive in the evening and morning with just the drls/fogs. When I push the fog light switch my DRL's and Fogs all illuminate even with headlights on or disabled. To be honest I have only used the 4hi feature a few times but I use the drl/fogs daily. Mine have been wired for a year now with zero problems.

It should, if the BCMs are the same. The part number on mine is 10367690 if you want to see if matches the one in your hoe

Glad you like this mod But I would suggest not even trying to mod an emergency vehicle Don't your high beams flash on and off with the rest of lights anyway?

Re: 4-HI Headlight mod 03+

Nice write-up. A couple questions tho:
Will this work for a 2005 GMC 2500HD?
Can/will this cause any wiring problems? I've been told that running the high and low beams on at the same time will overheat the wiring (too much draw?).
Also, I don't have stock bulbs in mine. I have the projector style headlamps and some higher wattage 'blue' lamps for the high beams. Will this be a problem?

Thanks in advance for any responses. -TK

Thanks! If the BCM is the same, then it should work. I have never heard of any issues with the wiring overheating. I don't think that would be possible since the highs and lows have their own wiring, relays and fuses:duuno:

PERFORM THIS MOD AT YOUR OWN RISK, WITH EITHER STOCK OR AFTERMARKET LIGHTING.

I just checked and my BCM part number is different. Good write-up though. -TK

I guess I should have said, "If the wiring on the BCM is the same...". I only gave mark the part number because he works at dealership in the parts department and could easily cross reference the part numbers on his computer.

Just look at the gray plug and count the number of pins and look at the wiring colors. If it all matches, it should work. Blu72camaro did this on his 2500 HD with no problems I would think the GMCs are wired the same. I would still be leary about running the higher wattage aftermarket bulbs though.

Re: 4-HI Headlight mod 03+

do you think you could do the 4-hi and fogs under the dash, and driving lights under the hood with out them canceling each other out?

Not sure I have been thinking about running a diode from the DRLs pin to the parking lights pin. What I am wondering about that is, in doing so would the parking lights stay on all the time too, or not come on at night with the headlights because of the sensor for the DRLs??

I am thinking that if you do it either under the hood or under the dash...the diodes are still installed on the same wire and would still cancel each other out

Let us know if you get it to work

So do you think running a diode from the DRLs the parking lights would work?

Re: 4-HI Headlight mod 03+

I messed around with the DRL's and Parks to no avail. I ran a diode from #85 on the low beams and #85 on the DRL's. I now have 3 diodes and every things working fine. 1 under the hood 2 under the dash. I will check to see if the lows are on with DRL's when the suns out in the morning. I wish my camera was working, it looks bad ass in the dark. Highs, lows, fogs, and DRL's on all at once.
