disc brake swap
truly, I dont know why more people dont do this. I did it in about an hour and a half, all bolt on with parts available over any parts counter. Total cost = $300 including calipers, rotors, brakes, ebrake lines, and brake lines. And the caddy calipers allowed me to keep my e-brake. Everything needs a good cleaning, but here are the mock-up pics.

Re: disc brake swap
Would the same work for my 6 lug? I've been wanting to do this for a while now.

yeah.. you could.. it would actually be easier. I really got lucky with my setup. As far as i know, im the first one to do it on a 2wd with the speedway brackets and caddy calipers, but everything fit like it was made to be there.

Re: disc brake swap
nice ..got lot of questions ... any caddy will fit ? or theres a special model to look for ? .. the rotors you are using are the ones of the caddy?. they fit 15" wheels ? do you think is necessary to add a proportioning valve to make them work better ? how much for just the brackets ?

I think the calipers are from a 79-85 caddy seville. I got them because of the mechanical E-brake, I wanted an E-brake back this time around. you can use S-10 or other GM calipers if you dont care about the e-brake.
I am using modified impala SS rotors, I dont know if they fit 15" wheels, but I can tell ya in about an hour.
Not so sure on the proportioning valve quite yet, as my truck is in shambles, but im going to do what i have to, to make them work.
and the brackets were $10 each, and fit perfect... which is suprising for a speedway motors product.
hardest part of the swap was tearing in to the rear end to get the axleshafts out. it was super easy in hindsight, but it was my first time tearing into a rear end. Just remember that the pinion shaft holds two spider gears in, and the axlehsafts hold the others, and you will be alright.

Re: disc brake swap
Are these the brackets you used? http://www.speedwaymotors.com/xq/asp...qx/Product.htm I need to change my rear axle seals anyways so I might as well do this mod while I have everything broke down.

Re: disc brake swap
Lowgreen, this is the bracket i used http://www.speedwaymotors.com/xq/asp...qx/Product.htm... you drill two holes and bolt it to the flange. with impala SS rotors it works perfect. You do however, have to machine out the holes for the lugs on the impala rotors. the lug pattern is correct, but the holes need to be enlargened to the same size as the studs.
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/xq/asp...qx/Product.htm
and btw everyone, 15's fit!... im pretty pumped, because now i can carry one of my 15" spares with me and be fine.
excuse the rust... caliper needs cleaning and its my 15" steelie... just to show clearance.
if there is enough interest, I can write a how-to, and take pics when i disassemble it again.

Re: disc brake swap
Thanks. I believe there would be enough intreset in a write up. I would include all the info you have. What rotors, what calipers, brake line, what you had to do to get them to work...ect..
