Re: Cheap way to shave a NBS antenna!
I posted this mod on one of the Avalanche sites and linked it to here for the real info. Since my antenna has been gone for a while, I just put the cover over the base.
A few of them have already ordered their cover to get this taken care of.

Re: Cheap way to shave a NBS antenna!
i made mine... you can use that plumbers metal "tape". its flexible enough to bend but still strong, and the holes in it are perfect for the bolts.

You could do that or just go to the hardware store. I got mine from lowes for about $0.30.

Re: Cheap way to shave a NBS antenna!
Has anyone considered running the antenna up the inside of the a-pillar instead of laying it along the fender? I know it's more work, but might have better reception since the antenna is still vertical?

Re: Cheap way to shave a NBS antenna!
Just finished mine tonight. Reception wasn't as good afterwards, so I made a grounding wire to go from the antenna to the original mount and it seemed to help some. Still isn't as good as original, but good enough to work without static. I mostly listen to mp3's anyway, so don't care much about the radio.
