Re: Cheap way to shave a NBS antenna!
Spent $13 at dealer and about 10 minutes. Just unbolted the mast assembly and slid antenna still attached to post/wire next to fender.
No loss of FM stations, and looks GREAT!!! Who would have thought less than $20 could look so good!
Thanks for the write-up and idea!
EDIT: WTS factory cowl piece ;)

What is this FM booster you speak of. I shaved mine and love the look but my wife complains about the loss of reception...

Re: Cheap way to shave a NBS antenna!
A FM Booster is a small FM Freq Amplifier, that you install inline with your antenna cable. You can look one up on ebay or even radio shack has one. I had a FM Booster in my 99 Blazer, and it pulled radio stations in very well. It gets a little tight when you dont have to much room inside your DIN mount in your dash. I'll try to post a link for one here in a few...

Re: Cheap way to shave a NBS antenna!
Ordered mine yesterday, should be here today. Cost me $15 at the dealer. Will have to go to Home Depot to get a L bracket, bolt, and a couple of other things I need as well....

Re: Cheap way to shave a NBS antenna!
I LOVE these cheap easy tricks that just make a world of difference!! Just like clearing my own headlights for a $5 bottle of silicone adhesive...
What size is the L bracket can you get a Lowes part number? Is every one else making there own?

Re: Cheap way to shave a NBS antenna!
Just go to lowes and ask for a bracket. I had to put mine on the grinder so it would fit so buy a few sizes and you should be in business.

Re: Cheap way to shave a NBS antenna!
I work for a construction company. I work in the Elect. Dept in the office. I just walked out to the tool crib and they gave me one that is big enough for a 1/4" bolt... It looks just like that one in the pic and has probably a 3/8 hole in it..
I'm going to try it when i get home!!
