Supposedly a lifetime. The ones from superbrightleds.com supposedly only last 3-4 years and then burnout.

No less then 3 years i guess.

Yea my truck had a full set of aftermarket gauges in it when it bought it. the previous owner took out the factory electric sender and shoved a copper line into the back of the motor and ran it into the cab.... its still hooked up now on my steering column to the gauge but its gotta go because I don't like oil running into my cab.


cliff notes-

aftermarket oil psi gauge
factory oil psi sender unit is not there
it was replaced with a copper line to a aftermarket gauge.
gauge cluster has no oil psi sender hooked to it

After reading though your how-to I have a question:

Do you have to sand off the white? Is that only for red? I am going to use blue LEDs. The cluster is a 92-94 tack-less cluster.

you pretty much have to or the blue will look dememented going through a green tint, its one layer of white and green, its amazing how the crappy factory bulbs even light up the cluster at all.

blue is the same deal, it needs to go through clear, as you can see when i was done sanding the white and green i held it up to the light and the pure white light came through UNGREEN like stock,

think about it and you'll get it,
sand the white and green like i did and then put in the blue bulbs and it'll look great,

I'm trying to make a thread on TBI rebuild, orings/gaskets and stuff.

I rebuilt the pod/injectors..

gotta do the throttle body itself .... my dad helped me a little on that one... i needed someone to hold down reg. spring in the fuel pressure reg.

How long did it take you to do this? How did you the change HVAC color?

Hvac color change is also in the tech articles, you need a very small peice of transparent plexiglass.

this gauge cluster deal took me about 4 hours at a steady pace. getting the face off of the plastic was the hardest part, my gauge face was rescreened at one time (not me) and had a very strong glue holding it down to the housing thing.

Thanks for the write up. It helped a good amount. But I did have a problem of pos and neg on my bulbs.

I guess when you drive the truck all day, you look at something like that and it bugs the sh*t out of you. But when you can't drive and you are on FSC all day, things like that don't bother you much.

The moonie cluster has green plastic pieces that go between the gauge face and light, and the blue LEDs I have in my cluster light up very blue, no tint of green at all. I know it is due to the lightwaves of blue and green being a closer frequency than other colors or something along those lines.
Finally, after over a year of having the bulbs in, I took a picture of my cluster.

After reading this thread, I thought of the only gauge needle in my entire truck and decided to clear it. So now I have a clear gear indicator, and I love it.

Even these pics are kinda old. My truck has almost 97K miles on it now.
