Radiator upgrade. Sticky maby?

Well i think this is my first post here but if it is not oh well. So you say the radiator has craped out in your 95-99 sub,tahoe,Z71 or hot powered small block truck. And you pick up the phone and call the parts store to find out a stock single core rad is gonna cost 200 plus or they will sell you a 2 core heavy duty rad for 300.00 and your like man thats breaking the balls.

This is what ya do. Tell them you want a radiator for a 91 chevy c1500 with the 454. It is a 2 core that will drop right in with slight tweeking of the trans lines.Very slight. There will be no mods required and it even has the oil cooler provisions for you oil cooler guys. Heres the kicker remember the 300.00 heavy duty super bells and whistle radiator they wanted to sell you? It is the same exact radiator as the 454 truck one for 159.00 and some change. I walked out of the parts store with antifreeze new hose clamps a 5 gallon bucket and the radiator for the same price as a stock one.

Re: Radiator upgrade. Sticky maby?

How wide is that radiator? Seems like when the vortec 454 came about the 42 inch wide radiators that I think were 3 core. If my radiator ever goes to leaking it will get one of those.

Re: Radiator upgrade. Sticky maby?

I just changed mine out lastnight. Total of $348.00 with fluids ( antifreeze, oil, and tranny fluid ) Mine has the Oil and Tranny cooler. I got the heavy duty replacement (almost twice as thick as what came out )instead of the Stock one that came in the truck.

Sure wish I would have known about this thread before mine sprung a leak (2 1/2" crack on the intake neck to be exact)

Re: Radiator upgrade. Sticky maby?

I also do not like the price of a little 1 core in my FSC. But I want a little more than 2 cores. I am going to be swapping my radiator out for a 3 core for under $200 next spring. I am going to get one from oreilly's for a '78 FSC 1500 with a 5.7, plus it's copper and brass instead of plastic. It also has engine and tranny coolers built in.
