03 /04 Chevy Truck fog light harness installation

I have bought myself 2 fog lights for my 04/ silverado truck, and chosen to install them . But i MADE a MISTAKE, i bought a 02 or earlier harrness for them, (first) the console switch is differant, differant size pins, and more then my 04 will accept , the directions, for the harness, tells me to open up the BEC, remove the top, and cover around it, you will have to remove the brace that is in the way, of your removing the cover. then remove the FORWARD LAMP 32-WAY CONNECTOR HARNESS, when you flip the BEC over ,it will be in the upper left hand corner, unbolt it, pull it out, now for ,02 or earlier, you insert your fog light harness connector wire in A3, IF YOU LOOK CLOSE THE 32- WAY HARNESS IS LABELED, so you can find the right slot, for 03 and up, you insert it into D6, THERE IS A PLASTIC, SLIDING LOCK THAT HOLDS THE CONNECTOR WIRE INTO THE 32-WAY HARNESS. IT IS ON THE SIDE OF THE 32- WAY HARNESS.After installing the connector, install back in the 32- way connector , and tighten the bolt, flip the BEC back over and reinstall it, you will need to install the relay# 12088567 . look at the inside top of your BEC ,lid to find your relay socket, and install according to the way the numbers are listed on the BEC label on the inside of the BEC lid for the fog light relay socket, and the numbers on the bottom of the relay itself, you will see pins 85,86, 87, and 30. install the relay, and reinstall the cover ,brace, and BEC lid. you will need to replace your cargo lamp switch. with a dual cargo lamp/ fog light switch, dont forget to do that. FOR 03/AND UP , you will (not) have to get your truck reprogrammed, for 02 and earlier, you will.

Will 99-02 lights fit on a 04 silverado?I am thiking about runing my own switch and wireing.

No, I dont think you can do it, unless you just want lights, and dont care what the the truck is going to look like. Chevy changed the size of the lights for 03 and up, 1999 to 2002 lights are more rectangular. While the 03 and up, are bigger, more square. So the lights will not fit into the plastic skirt.

thank you,I did not think about that. I found a set on ebay for 03-05 (kit comes with the 2 lights,switch,harness)for about 110.00 Which would be better OEM lights or after market lights?

Well my answer is the OEM, because everything is made for the truck, it will look more professional, instead of aftermaket. Where you may have to do some cutting or driling to mount a switch, cutting and running wire. The OEM kit should have the harness cut to the correct lenght, 2 lights, 1 switch, and 1 relay and instructions for a easy installation.
