Like post 90, I've had water accumulating in the weatherstrip channel down in the door sill area. At first, I thought all the water was coming from the leaks that I have from under the blower motor that everyone else is experiencing. Well, I've found another source of water. I pulled all the seats/carpet and crawled inside when we had a heavy rain. I noticed water was accumulating in the sill area, but no water was coming down from under the dash. So, I got out the flash light and with the door shut, I could see water running out between the door and door panel... right below the speaker grill. With the door shut the water would run out between the door and door panel, fill up the channel in the door weatherstrip, overflow out of the channel and then start filling the door sill area. I pulled the door panel and found a water soaked speaker. The water is getting inside the door and is running down the inside door, through/on/around the speaker and out between the door and door panel. I believe the water is coming in where the mirror and exterior window wipe seal meet. The seals/window wipe look pretty worn. I've oredered new seals from the dealer and am waiting for them to arrive. I pulled the drivers door panel I saw that the same thing is happening on that side as well.
Any more info on this one? Did it fix the door leak?

Re: Rain leaking into cab

I guess I was lucky. My 99 was leak free.

Re: Rain leaking into cab

Mine leaks from a bit of rust around the windshield frame at the top right. Leaks through there, from there it goes onto the door, and drips dead center on the floor mat. Lucky for me i use the husky mats, so it collects the water (10-20 drops) and i can just dump it. No floor rust inside!

Re: Rain leaking into cab

Well, I'm having to add my new to me truck to the list also. '97 Sub has water on both sides up front. Windshield is cracked, so it's getting replaced tomorrow. After reading this thread, I know what to expect. If I can get my cowl off before the guy gets here, I will.
I'll just have to slowly go thru the suggestions here to slowly eliminate all possibilities.

Re: Rain leaking into cab

I had the front passenger leak during a rainy day and here's what I did

removed my wipers
removed 8 cowl panel screws (you have to lift the hood to get to all 8)
carefully raised cowl panel and let it rest on the windsheild
siliconed all 8 screw holes with a nice dime size blob of 3M silicone
installed cowl panel
installed wipers

we've had 8-10 days of rain since my fix and I haven't had a leak since.

and haven't

Re: Rain leaking into cab

Hey Guys,
Just some food for thought. I have a 2003 Ext. Cab Z71 and I had the same problem with the passenger side floor carpet getting wet during rain. I took the truck back to the dealer twice, and they couldn't figure it out. The third time they called in someone who knew what he was doing and he found the seal on the aft upper corner of the back passenger door was not sealing properly. The water was running down the back passenger door onto the carpet and forward to the area under the glove box. The back carpet was not wet to the touch, but the front was soaked. That's why nobody looked at the water coming from the back of the truck. After he sealed the area, it's been dry city. I hope this helps some of you.
