Re: Rain leaking into cab
FINALLY, success!!! I found the main leak on my 99 nbs ext. cab. It was rushing in around the cab vent on the passengers rear corner of the cab. I bought a new one from the dealer. All of $7.52!!!! I can't believe how much water was running in around it!!! I also can't believe the vent was only $7.52 from the dealership.
Now to figure out where the wind noise is coming from in the passengers rear. I think it is the third door glass seal. Atleast it's not leaking water...lol.

Re: Rain leaking into cab
I feel so special to be in this club too. my 98 Ho does the same damn thing, It runs all the way down to hte floor, and even makes its way back to under the back seat!! The side of the carpet is stained from it!!!
It sometimes leaks around the top of the windshield by the rearview mirror also.

Re: Rain leaking into cab
Just adding one more to the list. My 2000 OBS just started doing it a few months ago. It seems to only be a problem when it is parked. Luckily, my floor mats hold a lot of water.

Re: Rain leaking into cab
Add me to the list too. '96 OBS. Had the leak since i bought it (used) a few years ago, only happens when it's sitting in the rain, not moving. Haven't bothered to try and chase it down.

Re: Rain leaking into cab
Here are the pic,s. I removed the fender and found that all i needed to remove was the small part of the driver side cowl to get to the leak. A little clear RTV sealed the leak now i need to find some molded vinyl flooring like the one that came in the work trucks to replace the wet stinky carpet that i removed. The screw driver shows where the void was located and the third picture shows the RTV applied. Also the void was only visible looking from the center of the truck looking to the outside.

Re: Rain leaking into cab
This is all that needed to be removed to fix the leak i had. It was much easier to spot the leak without the fender and there was some leaves trapped in there that i removed also.

Re: Rain leaking into cab
Eric, your void was on the driver's side, right, but where was the water coming into the truck?
Mine, like most here I believe get water on the passenger side mat. This is driving me nuts, please someone help.

Re: Rain leaking into cab
I may have also had some luck. The water was running down the corner of floor and kick panel soaking the carpet. Eric got me into the cowel. Nothing visable but, I went ahead and sealed (W/RTV) inside the cowel (where the wiper arms are). There is a seam there too and is where water travels toward the drain hole, just like a street gutter. I ran water for hours (the whole superbowl) and dry.

Mine was leaking behind the kick pannel whwere the emergency brake pedal is dow to the bottom of the door soaking the pannel. Under the rocker pannel trim there was at least 1/8" of standing water.

Re: Rain leaking into cab
So far I have not seen water on the drivers side. I know part of the problem on ours is the windshield. Its leaking at the top. Just dont think that is the major problem. Gonna fix that and see if I can find anything else. Its pretty much ruined the carpet on the passenger side. It makes its way all the way back to the back carpet under the rear seats.

Re: Rain leaking into cab
Well, it's been raining for 24hrs here and no more leaky!!!
I'm thinking the one screw that hold the small cowl cover may have had somthing to do with it too. I sealed it up since it leads into cab and is a little stripped. So far so good. By the way Mine would build up at the rocker panel also

After having throughly torn apart and examining the area, I had the same thought. I was going to seal that end cowl screw with some black RTV, too, since it's out in the heat and weather all the time, but the cap on my RTV had cracked after the last use and dried up my whole tube. Unfortunately, I never did get around to buying a new tube. I've been far too preoccupied with lots of important things....like cringing at the picture of 98bluebowtie's truck and other assorted...things
