Re: Chevy Lean
Well I got the insulators..they aren't very thick...about 1/8". So one on each end of the spring would give maybe 1/4" lift at the spring and I don't know what at the spindle..

Perhaps something like one of these would work better?

I think you're supposed to put them both on top, mine already had one on the bottom.

Re: Chevy Lean
I have noticed this lean on my 4x4. Anyone else 4x4 or just 2wd. Called dealer and said it takes 3000 miles for the suspension to settle after transport. BS???

Mine is 2wd. Was told the same thing by the dealer and Chevy's 1-800 number. At 1500 miles now and still leans, but have to admit that it's not as bad as it was. Guess I'll have to go measure it again, was .75 inch front and 1.5 inch rear, both low on the left (drivers) side.

My '05 4x4 was lower on the drivers side, but I corrected it when I cranked the t-bars to level the front. It does take some time for a new suspension to "settle in", so I don't think you got a total line of BS, but it is a little misleading. Just park your truck on level ground and measure from the frame on both side at the same spot to the ground (I did it close to the LCA) and simply crank teh t-bat bolt on the lower side until it is even. After driving it a few miles recheck it.

Re: Chevy Lean
I have a 2WD GMC and it leaned to the passenger front. Turns out it was just tire pressure.

Re: Chevy Lean
My whole left side leans. I checked the clearance from wheel well to the tire on all 4 corners. I figured it had something to do with the gas tank being mounted on the left side.

Re: Chevy Lean
Subject: Vehicle Lean - Left Front Sits Low or Right Rear High (Add Spacer Between Left Rear Spring Pack and Axle) #06-03-06-005 - (09/19/2006)

Models: 1999-2007 Chevrolet Silverado (Classic)

1999-2007 GMC Sierra (Classic)

with Two-Wheel Drive

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ConditionSome customers may comment that their vehicle appears to lean. In most cases, the vehicle will sit low left front or high right rear.

Correction
Measure fender wheel-opening heights, front and rear, to quantify vehicle lean. Fender wheel-opening heights are related to, but distinct from, trim height (a.k.a. Z and D height). The front wheel-opening height is known as P height, and the rear wheel-opening height is know as R height. The P and R heights are not set at the factory, nor is a specification given for them. However, they are the most direct and repeatable measurement of what a customer would see as the vehicle leaning. Perform the following before measuring the fender wheel-opening heights:

• Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface, such as an alignment rack.

• Set the tire pressures to the pressure shown on the certification label. Refer to Label - Vehicle Certification in General Information.

• Check the fuel level. Add additional weight if necessary to simulate a full tank.

• To ensure proper weight distribution, make sure the rear storage compartment is empty.

• Close the doors and hood.

P Height and R Height Measurements
P height and R height are measured the same way. They are the distance from the ground to the highest point on their respective wheel-opening, going through the center of their respective wheel. Record the measurement on the repair order.

If the difference fromleft to right for P and R height is 15 mm (0.59 in) or less, no repairs are suggested as the vehicle is within specification. If the difference exceeds 15 mm (0.59 in) for either measurement, install the spring spacer to the left rear side of the vehicle following the procedure below.

Raise and support the vehicle.
Support the rear axle.
Remove the U-bolt nuts, remove the U-bolts and anchor plate. Discard the U-bolts. DO NOT discard the nuts or anchor plate.
Remove the lower shock nut and bolt.
Raise the vehicle or lower the axle enough to allow for installation of the spacer. Install the spacer, P/N 15872657.
Lower the vehicle or raise the axle.
Install the lower shock nut and bolt.
Tighten
Tighten to 95 N·m (70 lb ft).

Install the anchor plate, new longer U-bolts, P/N 15872655, and nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 72 N·m (53 lb ft).

Remove the axle support and lower the vehicle.
Re-check the P and R heights in the previous location. Record these readings on the repair order.
After all measurements are done, perform a road test and check headlight aim.
If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.

I'll bet its 1 inch (3/4 at least). Still not up to 3k on mine so they'll look at it. And I'll bet its a lift block (when I told the service manager and the person at 1-800-fix-this, that's how I told them I'd fix it if they didn't).

Re: Chevy Lean **updated 9/19/06**
One thing that goes over looked on all vehicals is the Ball Joints. A worn or torn ball joint can make a .25 to .45 change in ride heigth, consedering you have a upper and lower ball joint on your spindle it can add up quiet supprisingly. Damage to these occur over time but off roading and over loading the front suspension can wear them out quicker, also check suspension bushings for warpping.
