Chevy Lean **updated 9/19/06**
Subject: Left Front of Vehicle Sits Low - keywords alignment appearance body fender spring suspension #PIT3281A - (12/13/2005)

Models: 1999-2006 Chevrolet Silverado

1999-2006 GMC Sierra

2 Wheel Drive Models Only

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
Left front of vehicle sits low.

Recommendation/Instructions:
Measure front trim height keeping in mind that the trim height tolerance is .5" difference side to side. Verify that the vehicle is equipped with the correct production front springs. You should measure the standing height of both front springs to ensure that they are equal height. Check "z" height measurements as per SI. After determining that the above checks do not influence the concern, install a front spring upper insulator, P/N 15756770 in the lower control arm spring pocket. Install 1 insulator at a time and measure the change between installations. A maximum of 2 insulators per spring pocket may be used.

Please Note: The steering alignment and headlight aim must be checked if the vehicle ride height was changed.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Re: Chevy Lean
Wonder if they will do this as warranty work? If so I'll have this done when I get my drive shaft greased next time and the free front end alignment that comes with it wouldn't hurt either.

JB, if it is the stock insulators, I've got a pair if you need 'em.

Re: Chevy Lean
Not the stock insulators. But very similar. Alot like the coil spacers mentioned above.

Well, my truck has it... My truck is out of warranty, could anyone give me some advice on the install?

I bought two of the insulators today, but they don't look like they'll stack very well.

Re: Chevy Lean
i just take mine to my trusty collision repair frame shop and he fixed mine for me no problem.I believe i paid about 150 covering the leveling and allignment.I believe they bend the shock towers to fix it.I have had both my gmc and ford trucks done.no they always say it will never be perfect.well it sure comes out pretty darn level to me.

I don't see how they would either. I put on in mine last week, I don't think helped much. All they are is a top insulator that you put on the bottom.

Ditto, any pics? Is this a quick and easy install? What's involved with this?

Exact same insulator as on the top of the coil. No, it's not quick and easy unless you consider pulling the coils quick and easy.

Re: Chevy Lean
i have a question!

approximately how much lift does each insulator provide?

the "jack truck up, take everything apart, install one insulator, reassemble everything, lower vehicle to ground, check height, find out it's still too low, jack vehicle up, take everything apart again, install second insulator" process sounds awesome but if anyone knows what sort of lift one can expect from one or two insulators, that would be awesomer. thanks.

I used one and it didn't make much difference. There's no way I'm taking it apart and adding another now.

Re: Chevy Lean
thanks Nick. guess I'll throw both in and hope for the best.

what was your Chevy Lean Factor™ when you started? I'm about 5/8" low on the left front. sucks 'cause it pulls the right rear up an equal amount

maybe new swaybars front and rear will help a bit.

I was probably at about 5/8" also, i really don't think it helped much at all.
