Re: horrible mpg on 03 yukon
gears could be an issue. also are you running E85? im assuming that its a flex fuel vehicle and if your running the ethanol you will see a pretty good decrease in milage

I'm figuring heavy 20" wheels and heavy 35" tires probably on 3.73 gears, needs some 4.56 or 4.88's to get it back in the power band.

Re: horrible mpg on 03 yukon
Gears would be the biggest boon for mileage on that beast. 4.88's for sure. Look into a custom tune, but there's not a whole lot you can do for a 6k lbs brick driving into the wind.

Re: horrible mpg on 03 yukon
great looking ride!
mpg!!!! it takes fuel to move heavy iron. if mpg is important, go back to std tires wheels synthetic oil in all drive train systems check rear brakes for dragging, if drums on back. increase air pressure to 3 or 4 psi over std in all tires complete tuneup using ac delco parts fuel system cleaning drive it like your grandmother would drive it. |

Re: horrible mpg on 03 yukon
Probably not a flex fuel vehicle. You need to regear, and you may actually be getting better mileage than that your speedo might just be off.

Re: horrible mpg on 03 yukon
Gears and a tune.
Seafoam is an engine cleaner. You suck it through your brake booster vacuum line into your intake and then your truck blows smoke like a satanic diesel. Pick a bottle up at your local parts store and follow the instructions.
1999 Tahoe LS 2-Door 4x4 w/ 3.73 G80. Custom tune from Justin @ Blackbear and a Vette 1 - 2 servo.
Brakestands make for great aroma therapy. |

Re: horrible mpg on 03 yukon
You might consider walking. I read that the average person walks 900 miles a year and consumes 22 gal of alcahol, thats over 40 MPG.

Re: horrible mpg on 03 yukon
Regearing did it for me. I had 3.42's before and was getting 10-12. I've got 4.11s now and am getting 15-16
97 chevy C1500 350 2wd, lifted 6" front, 4" rear, 4.11's, 15 x 10 hurricanes with 32 x 11.50 BFG all terrain, 5-chamber flo-master dumped in front of the axle.
