wait im confused me and my auto teacher who is ASE master cert. timed thing about 6 months ago, when it was have ing. issuse. how we did it was we lined up the timing mark on the balancer, pulled number plug made sure it was TDC and than pointed the rotor at piston number 1. bolted every thing down, she started right up. i dont understand what your saying

ok, he did it right, but when he had the damper lined up, and the #1 piston at TDC, the timing gears had both dots at 12 o'clock, dot to dot works to line the chain up, but to install the dist. pointing to #1, the engine needs to be rotated 1 full turn, to bring #1 to TDC compression stroke(cam turns 1/2 speed of the crank)

SHES ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!! and to dave sorry if i sounded like an ass, but you did help alot....i changed the gears and chain, cleaned everything up, put it all together, she fired right up
