Dead cylinder or sticking lifters/rockers? Im confused
I know threads similar to this have been done a hundred times, and I know about the whole piston slap problem. That doesn't bother me. But now even after the motor is warmed up and at operating temperature i still get the same ticking noise all the time as i do at startup. Not sure where to start thanks guys.

Sometimes if you guys are lucky, That ticking sound you hear could be carbon buildup like the old Northstar chevy engines used in caddy's. Either gm top end cleaner will fix that and sometime seafoam will also work. I guess if they doesn't fix the problem Then I would look into the lifters. But try that once and see if that quiets the engine or gets rid of the ticking. The 4.8 and 5.3 have carbon up problems like northstars did. 6.0 and 8.1 also have that trouble but it's less common because there isn't as many on the road as the 4.8 and 5.3.
