Re: Bolts to pull motor and hold on stand?
Every time I pull a motor I just use the exhaust manifold bolts. One in one side all the way at the front and one on the opposite side on the back.

Re: Bolts to pull motor and hold on stand?
3/8-16 is the thread

use either the exhaust manifold holes, or a hole on the front of 1 head, and the rear of the other head

as for bolting it to a stand, same thread, but you need bolts long enough to go through the stand arms and have 1/2-1" out the end(1" preferred, if they bottom out, use a couple washers till it doesn't, more thread in the block, the better(and safer)it is)

Re: Bolts to pull motor and hold on stand?
Another question. What bolts need to come out on the trans side of the motor to pull it? Man im a newb at this. All the acc on the front of the motor are pulled, now I just need to get the engine mounts and whatever on the trans side to pull it.

Do you mean the back of the motor where it bolts to the trans? If you are pulling the motor only you need to remove the bolts from the bell housing to the motor, there are 6 or 7. You will also have to remove the bolts that connect the flywheel to the torque convertor.

Re: Bolts to pull motor and hold on stand?
pulling just the motor. Would it be easier to pull them both? I see 6 bolts on the bottom that dont bolt to the engine. Then the ones your talking about are above those? They look near impossible to get to.

There should be a some on the bottom for the torque convertor/fly wheel cover. You have to take that off to get to the torque convertor bolts. The one I'm talking about are kind of hard to get to but it's ot too bad.

I'll take some pictures in a minute of what I'm talking aout.

Re: Bolts to pull motor and hold on stand?
If its 2wd might be easier if you just pull the tranny and motor together if its your first time. Otherwise the top bellhousing bolts can be tricky from the bottom without long extensions and wobble/ujoint sockets.

Got that cover off. Now the exaust/trans cooler lines/ driveshaft is in the way. Do I need to pull the driveshaft?

I dont think that you would have to take the driveshaft out. You can probably get creative and get to the bolts.

I didnt get to put pictures up last night, we had crazy storms and our Comcast was acting screwy. I'll get em up later.
