Re: Uh oh. The hood is stuck
HI Im Larry and I used to be a hood whacker, then I got into the door slamming scene. I have since been able to get some help for my problem, and I learned to lube it up realy well. It works great now been good for a little over 2mos.

Re: Uh oh. The hood is stuck
So I finally got it open. No amount of hood whacking would've helped cause the cable was loose.
I used a wire 18inches long with a hook about an inch in diameter. If you stand on the right side of the truck, the wire will reach the little tab where the cable hooks into. If you pull to the right, it pops up easy.

Re: Uh oh. The hood is stuck
Man, y'all are nutz...I'm willing to bet half of you just sprayed grease on the latch and didn't pay attention that it needs to go in the wear area which is in between the pawl and the bracket the pawl rides in, not just all over the latch mechanism itself, not gonna do any good just sitting on an area of metal that doesn't touch anything.
Something tells me you serial hood whackers are the same kinda guys that just up the octane at the pump when your engine starts pinging, and up the oil viscosity when the bearings start knocking.

Re: Uh oh. The hood is stuck
I too, am a hood whacker. Not only do I whack my own hood, but I will whack anyone else's hood that I find sticking.
My hood never did that until I put about a 3/4" spacer in the back over the summer. Now it does it every time.

If everybody does that the Hood Whacker Club will be short lived. So, men, there's a decision to be made-- Keep this venerable organization going, or stop looking like a fool every time you want to check your oil.

Probably no arrest unless you start whacking your wife.

I'm okay with looking like a fool.
I'm trying to convince Progressive that it's an anti theft device.

Re: Uh oh. The hood is stuck
If you have any luck, let me know lol. I'd be down with that. It fooled my g/f!! And she's in college! Boy did she feel like an idiot when I gave it the patented "whack" and it popped right up.
So you never know. Most thieves aren't that smart!!

Re: Uh oh. The hood is stuck
Hi, my name is Greg and I'm been hood-whacking for about 15 years now. Recently I made the mistake of applying lube to my OBS, so I no longer HAVE to whack. But I really want to. Please forgive me. I've been having withdrawals!
