With my old job i was issued a milwaukee 18v. That thing was amazing. Of coarse when I left I had to leave it behind. I have a craftsman 19.2 which is functional but it does not begin to compare with my old milwaukee. If I had the money I would go strait milwaukee for all my power tool needs but they are way out of my price range.

I see you already purchased your new drill, but IMO the RIDGID is by far the best. I own a construction company, and am very hard on tools, and they see extreme temperatures. (hot and cold) I always liked the DeWalts, but had to replace the batteries every year. RIDGID has a lifetime warranty on all of thier tools, including brushes, motors, and BATTERIES. (as long as you send in the warranty card) The only problem I have ever had was a switch shorted out in a cordless sawzall, which fried the motor and the battery. Five days later the sawzall was rebuilt, and had a new battery. With a warranty like that I have saved a lot of $$$$, and I have never had to replace a battery other than the one on the sawzall.

If you go with the 19.2 they have a TON of stuff that runs off of them.

I just got the lithium 16V craftsman to replace my 15 yr old craftsman 9v (both were presents). Very happy with it. But I like the 19.2 because of the versitility.

I was looking at buying the Dewalt XRP's but I got the Lithium 16V before I bought it and its been very good.

18 volt dewalt all the way. I've even used mine to ream holes in truck frames. It's never let me down. I know three people who've bought snap on drills and on all three, the triggers started acting up then the batteries burnt out.

dewalt ftw...construction for 6 years, never had a problem. if you want overkill get the hilti 24 volt

Considering my dad works for MSC tools (www.mscdirect.com) I can get anything I want for cost plus 10%.

I just picked up one of these. Makita cordless tools rock.

I've had an 18V Porter Cable for a long time, still original batteries. I'd recommend that one. Also recently bought my son a 19.2 Craftsman. It has tons of power (torque), lasts a long time on a charge, and has batteries available at any sears store for less $$$ than any other I've seen.

I agree with people swearing by Dewalt XRP. I used them for several years in a maintenance job. I even dropped mine from a lift over 25 feet up. The battery popped out and had a small scratch on it, and the bit I was using broke. I put the battery back in, added another bit and went back to work.

My personal Dewalts I have had for 6 years and can usually finish a half day project (wood) without recharging. The circular saw sucks the batteries though if your cutting more than 1x. The batteries are just now starting to not hold a charge quite as long as they used to.

My Dad has a RIDGID drill and I have a Router by them. They are both very dependable but the RIDGID (his being 14.4) is heavier than my 18v Dewalt.

the ONE complaint i have about my 19.2 Craftsman is it is freakin HEAVY!

I bought an 18v black & decker because it was 29.99 and I didn't have money for the dewalt I wanted. Figured I would get the dewalt when the b&d died. 4 years later that black and decker is still kicking.
