Re: 4HI when ripping out bushes correct??

"Banish the Bush"...I'm very concerned with the lack of colorful responses to this post..R U guys OK today ;) but to keep it clean..start w/4hi there is a little less chance of spinning & tearing up the yard.

Re: 4HI when ripping out bushes correct??

Agreed that straps are preferred but I have to admit I've pulled brush with a chain when nothing else was available. Made it as safe as possible by twisting a long looped chain going out and back, then draped a couple of blankets over the chain and 200 feet of pressurized garden hose laid across the blankets.

Re: 4HI when ripping out bushes correct??

I have done it both ways, if I can get them out slowly in 4hi then I have just gone that route. But if it was bigger then I use 4lo just for the extra torque

Re: 4HI when ripping out bushes correct??

Well after some good yanking they came out. I knew i was going to tear the **** out of the yard, so i got another tow strap and was able to pull from the drive way. In 2wd it just spun, 4hi it did nothing and 4low pulled them out slowly lol

some of these bushes were so big that when they were out of the gound i tried pulling them by hand to the trailer and couldnt move them, i had to use my 4 wheeler to get them to the trailer

Re: 4HI when ripping out bushes correct??

we had some pines we cut down, they were about 1.5 feet around and atleast 35 ft tall. Even with the stump at 6ft for leverage, our dmax started to break the strap, and all the stumps did was move a little. Granted, I bet with a heavier strap and more grunting it could have been possible, but thats a long shot

Re: 4HI when ripping out bushes correct??

We pulled down a big ole sumbish dead oak with my dads old avalanche, That thing was huge. Took a long ass chain and when it fell it came within about a foot of the rear bumper

Shoulda had a longer chain

Re: 4HI when ripping out bushes correct??

I just got done ripping out a stump in 4 low that I was cutting roots on for 3 days. When I pulled the stump up my driveway it felt like I had a freight train back there.
