Re: 1500 hd
pretty sure AAM bought the rights to GM's "Corprate" axles, and is now supplying them to GM.

Re: 1500 hd
AAM supplies Dodge with a 11.5 axle but it is a little different.

The 2500HD has a 2 inch body lift from the factory so the Alison tranny will clear.

Re: 1500 hd
its a common misconception. no harm no foul. also i noticed no one mentioned the front suspension is different. the 1500HD uses a 8.25" front diff like the 1500 and also uses smaller tie rods and a stamped UCA. the 2500HD uses forged UCA like the 3500. also the 1500HD comes with a np246 auto trac transfer case. the 2500HD comes with nv261 or 263S-HD

Wrong. A 1500hd is frame is the same height as a 2500HD except for the area from the rear axle to the back bumper. I have both in my driveway and I measured them. The frame is 8" tall from the rear axle forward and 4.5 behind the axle. The 2500HD is 8: all the way back.
The 1500HD also has 9.25 front IFS I should know because I installed the front gears myself. It is the exact same truck as a regular duty 2500. A 2500HD has the same frame as a 3500.The frame thickness on a 2500Hd is .197 and a 1500HD is .157 and a regular 1500 is .106 thick.
The 1500 HD uses the SAME tie rod as a 2500HD. Is also uses the same spindles. The 1500HD uses the exact steering components. I have both and 1500Hd is totally different from a 1500 and a 2500HD different from a 1500HD.

Re: 1500 hd
i stand corrected on the front diff. but youre going to have to show me proof on the other stuff. because it contradicts my personal experience. the tie rods on the 1500HD are the same ones as the seirra c3 which are in fact smaller than the 2500HD tie rods.

Re: 1500 hd
Steering gear box 2500HD Part# 27-7589
Steering gear box 1500HD Part# 27-7589
Steering gear box 1500 Part# 27-8412
You can check out these part #s at Advanceautoparts.com
I am not trying to start a argument lol Just a friendly discussion. The 1500Hd has the hydro boost brakes like the 2500 does.
The 1500HD and 2500HD use the same part# and the 1500 is different
2500HD upper control arm

!500HD upper control arm
http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/de...85c7ab9e&gan=1
1500 upper control arm
http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/se...tt=Control+Arm
As you can see if the links work the 1500HD and 2500HD use the same upper control arm and the 1500 is different. Here is a link I posted before. It is very informative http://www.rvlifemag.com/file324/hitchhints324.html

LOL I am way too lazy to do that. I did measure the frame height with a ruler with the assistance of my 6 year old son.

Re: 1500 hd
Just curious. Is there a difference between a 1500 and a 1500 HD frame?
