Pulling corvette with 1/2 ton 4.8??

Sorry for the noob question.

I have an '03 1/2 ton xcab 2WD with the 4.8 v8 and 4l60. 4 wheel disk brakes. Im wanting to start pulling my car to and from track events and various other things. The vette weighs right around 3200 lbs. Do I SAFELY have enough truck? This 03 is my DD and a larger truck isn't in the budget. What class of hitch should I get?

You should be just fine. I've pulled my 93 RCSB with my 03 Silverado 1500 without any sort of problem. I used the factory hitch.

should be fine..BUT
look into getting a weight distribution hitch, there are worth the money. i would put a GOOD trans cooler on also, and make sure the trailer brakes and controller work, and have a good time..

You won't have a problem at all... I would just make sure that you get a tranny cooler at least and use a trailer with brakes.

You should be fine. May work the engine a bit.
I would get rid of the factory hitch. Especially if you want a weight distribution hitch. They tear apart the factory hitches. For your weight rating, I would go Class IV probably still more then you need but overkill towing is not a bad thing.
The only thing I see you missed is the size and weight of the trailer.
You need trailer brakes. I recommend a Prodigy or P3. Both made by Tenoshika. (don't know if I spelled that right)
Before you go to adding another trans cooler, put a guage on and see what your temps are at first. If you are between 150 and 200 degree's your fine. You can go over 200 you just don't want to stay that high.
If you put an additional cooler on cause your at 175 pulling, when your unloaded your going to run to cool and your transfluid will not be able to evaporate condensation, and it will collect water.

Are you dolly towing or flat bedding it? Also, what's the gear ratio of your rear end?

Youre fine. Flat bed trailer with brakes and hopefully a weight distributing hitch- vette will be nothin. I towed a 4600lb lexus on a 2000lb trailer with my 97 and it pulled it like nothin. So you'll be fine, just make sure the trailer has brakes.
