7 way and brake controller

Ok, I have seen a few plug and play for both of these units but have not found anything fo my 1999 burb, and its the older 99. What/how do you these two units on a Chevy thats not plug and play. I know one thing, when I bought a 4 flat connector, I bought one for the burb and it had a Y connector that I was able
to plug into the existing harness in the back, is there a 7 way like that?

Re: 7 way and brake controller

This will be the easy way to do it. Its a 7 plug that has a place on the rear for your existing 4 prong flat plug to connect, then just run the needed wires from the new controler to the 7 prong and done. As a bonus it still has a 4prong connector that you can still use.

Re: 7 way and brake controller

There are no plug and play options for your truck. In the post above me they talk about the 2 wires that are already there. 1 orange and one blue, their wrapped up in the harness at the back-you'll have to do some searching for these. Then in the engine compartment they are around your master cylinder, also all wrapped up--more searching. Orange is for power to the trailer-interior lights. Blue is the signal wire for the trailer brakes. You have to mount the brake controller per the instructions and use the blue wire for the brakes, then hook the orange to the fuse block. At the 7 way plug end I cut the 4 way plug off and wire the lights that way, you will also hook up the blue and orange wires here. Follow the plugs wiring diagram for the correct hook up of the wires. Sorry about the explanation, I'm better doing the work hands on. Pm me if you have any questions, I did these type of installations for about 5 yrs.
