BlackBear Tune/ Trans problems day after

Okay so Saturday I got my Black Bear tune and Justin did a great job! What a cool dude to work with. Anyway I live in Alabama and I drove down to Biloxi for the Car show/Tune meet. On the drive back on Sunday around 70 on I 10. I noticed the truck would vibrate for about 4-5 seconds like I was hitting the warning strip on highway except I was in the middle of the lane! It did this off and on the whole way back. Well when I stop to get gas and accelerate away in 3rd gear it make a grinding/popping/ringing noise. Def didnt do that before the tune. Not sure if it was adjusting the shift points and the firmness of what. Its a 4l60e. Looks like I will be replacing my tranny. If Justin tuned it already could I bolt up a 4l80e? Or does he set it up for the specific tranny?

191k Alot of miles but its not the original trans or motor. Motor is brand new with 25k miles on it.

Sounds like you're converter clutch is either toasted, or the circuit isn't applying enough pressure. Its a common 4l60e problem, they have this stupid setup where the tc can be kind of locked, sort of a controlled slip so make the transition in and out of lockup smoother and less like a shift.

A lot of shift kits replace this part with the kind they had in the 95 and old trucks just because it tends to cause wear and heat, and eventually kills the clutch. And it can drop fluid pressure if it gets old and senile.

That's my guess at least.

Wound up being a problem with his transfer case, but he got it fixed and is back on the road!

Yeah it had nothing to do with the tune. The tune is amazing! I dont know why or how the transfer case messed up like that since I barely ever put it in 4wd And when I do I dont put it in ANY mud!

Is it an autotrac? I've heard those ones can be pretty finicky in the electrical department.
