I figured it was about time to join a forum dedicated to my truck. I was on a Jeep forum for 4 years when I built wranglers and it was a useful resource. Ive now had my truck for 2 years and lets just say its a little different than my old wrangler. This is the first large displacement vehicle I have ever owned. I have finally earned enough money to start some power mods so I decided to join up and perhaps pick the brains of some guys who know a little more about American Iron than I do.
Basic rundown on what I have now. I use it for a lot of ranch work when at home during hunting season and as my daily driver at school in South Carolina. Its a relatively stock 2000 Silverado 2500 standard duty 4X4 with a 6.0L Vortec and 5spd manual transmission with a factory limited slip in the rear dif (pretty sure its about as good as a paperweight by this point). The only performance mod I currently have is a K&N Gen2 PIPK. I upgraded to 265/75/16 BFG AT's and Bilstein shocks (makes the big animal ride like a Cadillac). I also installed a pair of PIAA 520 fog lamps on the front bumper. Interior mods include some premium stereo enhancements courtesy of Alpine and JL audio ripped out of my old explorer when a year of driving between Greenville SC and Austin TX was too much for it to handle.
In the next week or so I am putting on a Magnaflow catback and a Nelson performance tune to shake some of the cobwebs out of the system. My ultimate goal is to get as close to 400hp as I can without hurting mileage and without a turbo, these are just the first steps.
Anyways, I am eager to learn anything and everything about my truck and its potential, Its the only vehicle I have owned for more than 2 years and I love it to death and plan on driving it until it dies and then I will probably resurrect it. Thats al for now, Im gonna just sit back and see all that I can learn and keep everyone updated on the mods.
