Don't Kick me out Yet!
Hey guys and gals, my name is Jan and i'm from Buffalo, New York. I'm really out of my element here since I drive a Ford Ranger. Like the title says, don't kick me out yet! I'm starting a project for my truck to drop a 5.3L V8 out of an Impala SS (hopefully) in my Ranger. Weird I know but my buddy has an Impala SS with the 5.3L in it and it screams. Being more aluminum than cast it'll be lighter for my truck until i get my new axles and suspension under it. Any and all help and suggestions are welcome since like i said, i'm out of my element. Thanks!

Sounds like you have your work cut out for you. Integrating that engine into a Ford will be interesting. Keep us updated and I'm sure we will help as we can.

Re: Don't Kick me out Yet!
Sounds very interesting. Not many people here swap Chevy engines into other stuff, it mostly stays within the family. There's the odd Cummins here and there too.

Because LS4s are cooler than LY5 or LMG

Thanks for all the welcomes! I was thinking i'd get boo-ed out of here haha
My buddy has a LQ4 6.0L in his midsize blazer aside from his '06 Impala SS with the LS4 and both are great powerhouse motors. I was going to do a 5.4L Triton, but the same buddy has a GM performance tuner program that will be a great help with the LS4. he's done some minor tweaks to his SS and it's a helluvalot faster and you can feel the power. Plus the all aluminum LS4 is much much lighter than the LQ4 at cast block and heads.
The build will hopefully start in late spring, early summer when i'm done with school. Right now it's just getting all the parts and information together. It's gonna be slow going but hopefully it'll be a beast when i'm done.

Re: Don't Kick me out Yet!
Ah, gotcha well once i get it in the truck and running, depending on hood clearance, i'd like to throw a blower on it, but we'll see how it goes on my buddy's motor first haha
