New from North Carolina just bought a 1979 K5 Blazer

Hi im Austin from NC and i got me a '79 K5 blazer sittin on 33" mud tires. its runnin a 350 and a th350 3 speed automatic trann. its a RUST bucket and is leaking oil from what i think is called the oil cooler thats right above the oil filter. i took the filter off and tried to get the cooler off because it needs a gasket to fix the leak but there were two lines connected to it and i tried to get one off but the "straight pipe" (which is cut off right after the cat) is in the way so i need to get it on a lift to take it off. on the way i went 10 feet down the road and all my oil leaked out so now its parked.

my question is when i change the oil should i use 5w-20 or 10w-30 oil? i asked a guy at nappa when i was buying the gasket and he said use 10w-30 but he said he doesnt know much about chevy trucks. thanks in advance
