Re: Low97tahoE's "new" '01 ECSB build

Reason why I asked is I remember you saying he was building a transmission for you. He built one for me as well. I played hell getting the converter to lock up the way it was supposed to.

Robert was supposed to send my pan back to me (mine had a drain plug & the one he sent me did not... I just wanted to swap them), but never did. I ended up welding one in myself. He kept insisting that the tune was screwed up (BlackBear tune) but the stock transmission with a Circle-D shifted & worked fine. I sent him a copy of the tune that supposedly his friend combed through & they couldn't find anything out of the ordinary.

Justin sent me about a half dozen tweaks, but we still couldn't get the converter to hold. I ended up getting him to unlock the tune, buying HpTuners, & tweaking it myself with a pressure gauge taped to the windshield, but not before slipping the hell out of the converter clutch.

Jason cut me a deal on a refresh since I was going onto my 3rd converter. He suggested that the converter be gone through any time there was a transmission failure.

Getting trans rebuilt and I bought a new converter

I hear ya man. The Trans he sent me didn't have a plug either but I sent him a core and not my stock trans so when I pulled it I swapped the pans.

I never had any converter issues but I was asking 600 for this converter since it's 800 brand new. Its billet front precision Vig. I dropped the price to 500 because that will cover shipping both ways for the buyer to have precision cut it open and check it out. It has 1.5 years of warranty left if there any issue in there

So, I didn't have time to wait to ship my trans off and all of that. After 8 days it had not been picked up and I really want the truck back together now. So I went and got it and got with a buddy of mine and gave him the Trans to build it. He works for a local transmission shop and he has 3 vehicles of his own that he built 4l60e's for. One 550hp, one 400+, and one bolt on 6.0 truck that tows a car every weekend. The truck has 80k miles on the build, no issues, the 550hp car has 3 years and 60 passes on it with spray running in the 10s dangerously close to 9s, no issues. Other one has plenty of miles on it too. And he built 60es for 5 other people that I know with cammed/stalled/etc trucks that beat on them with no issues. So I trust him.

I should have the Trans back early next week. Here's pics of my beautiful billet Circle D 5C (4000 stall) that I just recieved.

Put it all back together with a freshly built trans and the 4000 stall. She's alive!

The line pressure is turned up in the Trans and needs to be set to stock in the tune before I drive it. So I'm gonna bring my pcm to the tuner on Monday and I'll be driving it Monday afternoon when I get home! I'm anxious

I'm suprised that you didn't get a a-pillar tri-pod gauge holder.

I don't like those. Everyone sees them and thinks you want to race. Like sometimes I just wanna drive peacefully and enjoy the ride not race your Kia Soul.

Plus I don't need 3 gauges

My taste is clean and simple

Truck runs soooo much better with the 4000 stall! Very impressive. I'm gonna upload a WOT video to YouTube and I'll post the link here. Also drives real nice even just cruising. I'm very happy with the new trans and converter. This 4.8 screams.
